I dont know If I can rescue it again. got hit 2 days ago driver is ok. He really loves the car and wants to fix it. I work on more banged up cars but will it be worth it ? I mean its at 162k now and the cost of repair will be around 5k Im thinking so its up to insurance. How will they value it? What will be the payout if salvaged again or maximum allowed repair cost insurance will cover. should I start a thread If I do repair it? haha

Strong belief that insurance co. will total it. I'm sure that the crush/crumple zones in the rear structure on either side of the spare well have done their job. Although fixable, not worth it in their eyes.

I always thought the 500e/e500 had significantly wider fender flares. Am I missing something?

(The latest pic doesn't load for me on the tapatalk app.)

The fronts, yes. The rears are regular 124.

Rears as well on all E500E's

Where the fronts have a significant flare, easy to see, the rears also have a larger flare, just not as pronounced.

The part numbers are all different on these body panels and bumpers between an E500E and any other model 124.

Looking at this one picture of this wreck doesn't show the difference very much, But park a 500 next to a 400/320 and looking then, the difference would be apparent.

Also, have you gone through any of the build threads like bahnstormer's, where they are making a coupe or a non-500 look like a 500? They always enlarge the rear flares, copying the 500. The rear bumpers on the 500's are wider at the tips to conform to the wider rear fenders on a E500E.

I own a E420 and a 500E, so not just from internet pictures. Right now my newly acquired 500E is at Victors in the Bronx, getting the electrics and some mechanicals restored. When I get it back I'll put up some of my own pictures.

In the meantime, here are front and rear pic's I found on google, that show the fender flares better. Aero I

Guys, this isn't the place for the recent discussion. Please start a new thread in the W124 area, bet it'll have legs. Locking this.
