Has the timing chain been converted to dual row?

I don't know (I'm the second owner).
I'm mostly a Chevy guy, but I can say that it's quiet and there doesn't seem to be any play when moving the Crankshaft back & forth.
Other than that I won't lie & say it was, just to make a sale.
If the engine was high mileage or "Tired" I would consider a Small-block Chevy or Ford Engine & Tans swap, but I'd still have the problem getting in & out of it with my Prosthetic leg (Limited range of motion).
Thanks for your response.

Thanks. You need to do some research on the single row timing chain. It is a serious flaw in the M116.986 in 1981-1983 North American 380Sls. No informed 107 buyer would consider it with unknown corrections.

My 8i' 380SL

I guess the chain can be seen if I take off the Valve cover, am I correct?
-------------------------------------------------------------
The old man (A Doctor) I bought it from went to a Rest home with Dementia. His son (Also a Doctor) did the paperwork & his dad signed it, that was two years ago.
I do remember the son telling me that only the Benz dealer, where he bought it new did the routine maintenance. He also said that the car was only in the rain a few times & stayed in an a/c & heated garage when not in use... I'm thinking that the Benz dealer would have already replaced it
(I hope so)!
Thanks again!
