FS - 1990 500SL 6.0 AMG

Ok, with heavy heart and still unsure mind, I am offering my beautiful AMG up for sale..

search for posts by me for additional info, but here's the short story:

brought to Canada from Japan in 2007 (08? can't remember exactly) and loved ever since. Was skeptical that it was a real AMG, but stroke measurement (and acceleration!) confirmed it's a 6litre. New parts/maintenance done is as follows (at least, I'm probably forgetting a bunch of stuff):

Ignition wires & plugs
Distributor caps & rotors
knock sensors
cold start valve
overvoltage protection relay
air intake hoses
injector air hoses
idle/cold start hoses
HID headlights
2002 taillights
Paint job
windshield wiper gear
roof hydraulics rebuilt (10 of 12, the big 2 work fine)
Brake pads - ebc red stuff
Brake rotors - R1 crossdrilled
fuel filter
cruise control computer
cruise control/throttle actuator
oxygen sensor
motor mounts
Strut mounts
stereo with bluetooth handsfree
turn signal switch
ignition switch
cam position sensor
coolant temperature sensor
intake air temperature sensor
A/C Compressor
A/C receiver/dryer
134a Conversion
tires - michelin pilot sport

The car runs great, with one mechanical issue: the ECU doesn't send a ground signal to the cold start valve. I have installed a switch under the ignition to manually fire the CSV, which works fine. If you'd like to replace the $4K ECU to fix it, be my guest, but for me the switch is acceptable.

Cosmetically, the car needs a bit of work - there is a flake of varnish that has come off of the wood on the steering wheel, and there are a few hairline cracks here and there on the wood trim. The driver's seat has worn through on the outside bolster where the seat belt rubs as is typical. I would also replace the top, as the plastic windows are pretty foggy looking and the top has a couple of wear spots. It's certainly acceptable for a daily driver though.

The car had some water run inside it one winter from the leaking hardtop seal, and there is a resulting mouldy smell from the carpet. I will have it detailed prior to sale so hopefully that will take care of that.

Pictures are from when it was painted in 2010 but the car looks the same - I can snap some new ones if anyone wants to see anything specific.

Located in Victoria BC (I know, it's a frikkin island!) but I can deliver to, or help arrange shipping to anywhere from, Vancouver BC.

Taking offers on $14,000 CDN.
