1983 Mercedes 300D
222k miles – mechanically rebuilt
Ascot grey on blue
Hans, my mechanic in Houston for the past 30 years, has asked me to sell his daughter’s 300D. Hans got this car back in 2001 from a long-time customer. It was a good foundation for a car for his daughter, but since it was going to be his daughter’s, he wanted it to be reliable.
He rebuilt the engine, put in a new transmission, new steering, new suspension, new brakes, new everything mechanical. When I asked him why he rebuilt the engine, he said “because I wanted to”. For him, it’s a no-big-deal job. All that was done 80k miles ago when he first got the car.
And after all that was done, the car got hit on the passenger front door. The door was replaced, the front quarter was replaced, and both were painted to match. The rest of the car is original paint. Interior is good – no dash cracks, wood in good shape. The AC was redone a few years ago using R12 – everything was replaced including the evaporator. New-ish Michelin tires. The windshield has a small crack in it, so he’s getting that replaced prior to sale.
Needs nothing. Drives very well, stops straight, runs great, AC is cold. Not a show car, but a very solid driver that doesn’t need anything more spent on it. Selling because she got a newer car; no need for this one in this garage with all the other Mercedes he has. He’s a very good, honest guy – no BS. Car is going to the detailer today.
I told Hans I’d help him sell it, so I’m listing it on two forums and Craigslist. The car is at his shop; view anytime you want. If interested, please email Natasha at firstname.lastname@example.org
