Not the best year for a 107. Low miles may be attractive to the uneducated 107 buyer. Good luck with the sale Doc.

with all due respect

salmcc I also read your 500 sel post.
First both cars look to be very nice examples. With that said I am not sure where you are getting your pricing information but with all due respect tI think you are advertising in the wrong place.
I'm not saying you can not get that amount for them it just won't be here.
Please understand in the last few years we have seen ads placed for Mercedes for sale owned by movie stars, rock stars and other over the top stories and mostly that is what they are, stories.
People here (Knowledgeable Enthusiasts) are fairly straight forward regarding stuff for sale good pictures, detailed description and a price.
Advertising a car for sale by saying there is an appraisal and make an offer (it is called e-bay fishing here) will likely just draw ridicule not a serious offer. Again not trying to be rude, insulting or debasing, just stating facts.
Just my opinion.

He should contact Hatch & Sons in Boston to see what they think they're worth.

The thread for his 500SEL has already addressed his unrealistic expectations in detail.

I am interested in finding out about the appraisal, as I know a couple of high line car appraisers in central Mass. If they didn't do it, they'll know who did.

Of course, insurance (replacement value) appraisals are a very different animal than actual market value appraisals. I suspect that's what he has - replacement appraisals from an insurance company, which are typically inflated due to their concerns about the cost to locate a replacement, if one can be found.

Nothing unique or unusual about a 1979 450SL.
