Just to respond to the questions...
I have not tested this unit out, so I do not know whether it works or not. I don't have the test facilities available, really.
The wood does have issues, but it's not too bad overall. The important bit is the switchpad in the console.
It's a "computer" from 1985... think about it's capabilities. It does calculate various aspects of a trip, but in kilometers and liters, so it's not really about usability.... I'd say it's the rarity and the "cool" factor alone that makes it interesting and if I had the time and the right car to put it in, I'd want to go for it. And it's an MB original part-- definitely not "Pep Boys" in my eyes...
