Also, please confirm the negatives...

No idea if the unit works?

The wood is cracked?

Garage
I have one in my coupe.

It calculates average consumption, trip distance / consumption, distance remaining based on tank content - and some other trip timer you can set.

A bit tricky to use

It's not so much what it calculates, it's what it emanates.... namely, "Cool as $h!t Factor"

I can't decide if it's retro-cool or PepBoys.

Just to respond to the questions...

I have not tested this unit out, so I do not know whether it works or not. I don't have the test facilities available, really.

The wood does have issues, but it's not too bad overall. The important bit is the switchpad in the console.

It's a "computer" from 1985... think about it's capabilities. It does calculate various aspects of a trip, but in kilometers and liters, so it's not really about usability.... I'd say it's the rarity and the "cool" factor alone that makes it interesting and if I had the time and the right car to put it in, I'd want to go for it. And it's an MB original part-- definitely not "Pep Boys" in my eyes...
