FS: 1984 Mercedes Benz 380sl

1984 Mercedes Benz 380sl roadster in good condition. Newly replaced fuel pump, fuel pump relay, ignition control unit, ignition coil, distributor cap, and rotor. Runs good, needs both front fenders repainted. A/C doesn't blow really cold so I'm not sure if it needs a recharge or something more involved....I've never looked into it. Retrofitted with European style bumpers. Needs plastic grill beneath front bumper and skirt below rear bumper. Original VIN is WDB1070451A012635 but reissued as VIN NY46165. I'm not sure why the VIN was reissued by NY, I bought it this way 7 years ago. Approximately 99900 miles on odometer. Clear title and was registered in Connecticut up until 3 months ago. Moving soon and would like this to go to a new home. For parts or restoration. Located in Manchester CT. $5500 or best offer.

Is WDB1070451A012635 the number stamped in the upper radiator support?

Yes, that VIN is stamped on the front radiator support but it has been intentionally scratched. It's barely readable but it's there. I also found a scrap of paper under the drivers seat with the European version of this same VIN. Not sure if its from a build sheet.

The VIN on the build sheet is the US standardized 17 digit VIN. This VIN should appear on a tag riveted to the A pillar, visible through the windshield. Should also be on a metal plate riveted to the driver's door jamb. The stamped number is a European format which is what probably led to the replacement VIN being issued. US DMV computers won't accept the European format.

Just information. Good luck with the sale.

Garage
FYI:
It doesn't appear to have any front turn signals. Might be tough to pass inspection without. The electrical box turn signals are cheap though.
