Crazy Idea: anyone have a BIG convertible want to RENT it to me for the summer?

Perhaps this is crazy, but I would love to have a big (safe-ish) convertible for the summer -- E Class, CLK, *maybe* a 6 series -- and I don't feel like going through the hassle of buying one and selling it in two-three months.

Does anyone have something like that sitting around you'd like to rent? It has to be big enough to fit a rear facing baby seat (these take up more room than you'd think) and be relatively modern and safe and interesting (no sebrings!).

Anyway... I'm old and married and safe, but if you're interested in getting into business we can get into that in more detail.

Just a thought.

I don't think a CLK would cut it. Our friends have a CLK and I think there's not enough room back there for a rear-facing conventional baby seat.

I was barely able to fit a rear-facing baby seat in our SLC convertible that seats 5. You buy me a new top for my SLC convertible and maybe we can work something out.

I'd be afraid of what my little angel would find between the seats of your car!

Maybe a new e-class convertible would work.

Volvo convertibles have decent back seats, but are pretty lame. The seats feel like a sofa.

Sebring is seriously one of the largest newer convertibles.

A 4-door jeep is a different mindset, but could be good for a summer.

When i bought my E550 sedan, I drove one of the coupes and because they're based on the C-Class chassis, they are pretty tight back there. That said, it will fit I think (I fit one on the rear of a 2013 C250 loaner car), but it's gonna be a bit tight.

You need a lot of room to fit a rear-facing car/baby seat. It barely fits in this back seat, and only works in the middle seat because it somewhat fits between the two front seats.

Huh... that stinks Not that I was expecting anyone to rent me their new E-class, but it's the only modern big convertible that I could imagine a rear-facing sear fitting in.

Secretly I want to buy one of these. I know everyone hates them, but I like wacky stuff. Plus I could see them going up in value eventually. The production numbers were very small.

^^^ I, too, tend to like unconventional stuff, but there has to be limits somewhere and that definitely is not making the cust.

Good luck with your search! Maybe Doc will borrow one from his collection...

Probably low production numbers for a good reason.

I doubt that a rear-facing car seat would fit easily in one either.

Edit:
Pictures of car seats in the back of a regular 5-seat Murano don't even look super spacious. http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2...eat-check.html
