1999 Mercedes S500 Grand Edition 130k Miles
It is time for our family to move on from our 1999 S500 Grand Edition. The car has just under 130K Miles on it.
We purchased the vehicle from Mercedes Benz of Smithtown in 2002 when it had 65,000 miles on it. According to the dealership, the previous owner commuted regularly from Long Island to North Carolina.
The car is in BEAUTIFUL condition body wise. Last year the cars satin panels were repainted so the entire body is the special edition Black now. The car suffered a minor rear ending from a F150 several years back otherwise there are no accidents with this car.
The current issues with the car are as follows:
1.) Rear Defrost is not functioning.
2.) The Trunk System is not functioning properly (the pump system works fine), so we think it is a latching issue as the trunk "sucks down" and handle pulls in but when the car hits a big bump the handle will pop out.
3.) Right rear tail light is discoloring and has some mold inside the edges
4.) The driver door air hose has a leak preventing the door from "sucking in" but will close fully when you pull it.
5.) The rear view mirror is discolored slightly
6.) The roof liner is pealing so when you open the sunroof there is sometimes issues with the black linear fall out when you close the sun roof shade.
7.) The Speaker system will crackle at times but still sounds flawless when not crackling. I believe it is the head unit over heating when run for long periods of time.
8.) Rear deck has 4 6.5" Bose Subwoofers (the leftmost was making noise so we disconnected it), but the system is still BADASS.
Other then these issue the Car is Beautiful and was cared for like another memeber of the family.
It has 2 sets of Rims and tires. Current set of tires has 1000 miles on them. The original AMG wheels are in storage and car has replica AMG wheels currently. The Original AMG wheels were refinished once by first owner so the dealer advised us not to redo them again if we intended on using it as an every day car)
Those of you who are Mercedes lovers know this is 1 of 600 (Probably alot less nowadays). This car is meant for someone's collection not an everyday car anymore. I already have one collectible family heirloom laying around and dont have the time for another.
Although I am not on this board a lot, I want this car that I grew up in the back seat as kid and then drove for last 8 years in the hands of someone who will LOVE IT like we did since 2002.
Being this is a super rare car and last of the old school mercedes in great shape in need of some tweaking of the gadgets and gizmos, I would like to $10,000 for it, but am open to conversations with anyone who is passionate about this car.
Please call me with any questions or for additional picture requests.
Look forward to making someone a proud new owner of our Grand Edition.
