I just really need a bottom end, the customer's engine has a rod hanging out the side of the block (although it still runs) and I have another that is stuck from sitting. I know the one that is stuck is rebuild-able, but it is not in the budget for the customer to have me build the core. The car was running perfect before an oil cooler hose failed and it lost oil pressure on the interstate.
The fuel injection on the M130 is a mechanical injection very similar to a diesel setup, injection pump is driven off of the timing chain. I have never had a carb version and a fuel injected one side by side to compare, so I have no clue if the block would have the provisions for the injection components... I'm sure that the timing set and timing cover are different. I will do some research and see if it might be possible to swap the head onto a carb block though.
Saw the 72 250 part out, but I think that the engine had an issue.
There is an engine on fleabay now that would work, but I can't get the seller to respond to me about it.
People freak out when I drive into the shop with a perfectly good Mercedes, only to start cutting it up for parts. I just tell them that something has to die inorder to keep all of the other Benz's running.
