I'm a relatively new member but have been lurking on the forum for a while after I picked up a new-to-me w126 last fall. It was my first Mercedes, but not my last. After working on it to catch it up on maintenance, I became thoroughly impressed with the design and engineering behind it, and how that translated into a fantastic driving experience.
I have for sale a 1985 Mercedes-Benz 500SEL. This model is a rare European version that was legally imported from Germany back in 1986, and it has a clear Colorado title. I live in Broomfield, Colorado. It had a single owner from the time of its import until I acquired it last fall. The 5.0 liter gas engine runs smooth on the highway, and the power off the line is great. It also includes factory Euro-headlights and bumpers, much lower profile than the US-spec models. I have records on it back to 1986. It's a good, honest old car, and is very comfortable on the highway or around town. This model, the w126, is considered to be one of the best and most rebuildable cars Mercedes every made. Advanced features like driver and passenger memory seats, automatic climate control, and ABS are evidence that this car was ahead of its time and still feels relevant so many years later. The long wheelbase makes the rear seat a palace, whether you're chauffeuring state dignitaries or toddlers. I'm selling because I recently acquired a diesel model and need to make room. Prior to my owning it, the previous owner maintained it well until the last couple of years. So, mainly what I've done and what it needs to finish are the old rubber bits that have dried out after nearly 30 years.
