WTB 1987 1988 or 1989 420sel
Pref Black with light color interior
Daily Driver is the goal (and hopefully without a lot of work)
Love if the stereo is at least CD

So... biggest question as this is my first post...
If I look at a car in another city, how can one find a reliable mechanic to evaluate the car before I make a trip?
Chicago, Nashville, even Atlanta is no problem for me
Taking a trip to California all over this summer

Thank you so much! I've wanted this car for a long time and am finally ready to make the investment. My mother had one in the 80s.

Hi, I'm curious why 420 and not 560?

Also, there was a change in interior style between 88 and 89. MY 89-91 got the "Style 3" seats, passenger airbag, center storage compartment and I think an integrated cruise control CPU.

Also, what is your budget? I've seen prices on W126 all over the place.

Now looking for sewing lessons

Gone but not forgotten:
1988 W126 560SEL - got rear ended, 1993 W124 500E - parted.

You can try any local Benz dealership to see if they would provide a pre-purchase inspection. This might turn out costly, but will be the most scrutinizing.

Also, Indy mechanics local to the seller could be found through forum threads created for that purpose. If you find a car in southern California where seller would be willing to drive it to the San Gabriel area, pm me for an excellent and trustworthy indy mechanic. Not sure he would be ok with me posting his info on public forum.

GL with your search, you shouldn't have too difficult a time.
