FS (Portland, OR; Pacific NW) - 1994 W140 / S420 - make an offer
I am looking to sell my 1994 S420. Before going any further in this post, please be aware that this car is in "bad" shape (I'd rate it a 3 on a 1-10 scale), so if you're looking for something other than a project or a spare parts source, this car is definitely not for you.
Also, I have no pictures of the current state of the car (mostly because it's unwashed and dirty and I can't wash it in its current location). If you're serious about this, we can communicate privately and I can get you pictures of whatever you like.
Issues with the car that I am able to note:
*Presumably dead battery - I have not started the car within a year.
*There has been a recurring distributor/ignition system issue with this car that I have never been able to solve, and the last bout of this (18 months ago) is what caused me to give up on it. The distributors were replaced, but the issue came back after about a year.
*There is a slow leak in the power steering pump - the issue seemed to be mitigated by monitoring the fluid level - it didn't seem to affect steering much
*I believe I was told that the steering column bushings can stand to be replaced at some point.
*the odometer/trip meter is broken, and to the extent that I'm believable, it has had moderately light use since the odometer conked out - it stopped at ~130k miles and probably, at maximum, 15,000 miles have been added onto it since then. but i have not attempted to log that so that's an imprecise estimate.
*beyond that, whatever issues may have cropped up over the course of it sitting for 18 months without being properly primed for long-term storage.
Good, a couple of light (don't think it's into the metal) scratches (18-30 inches) on the left rear side, but other than that paint is in decent shape, and the interior is in pretty good condition (7/10). The car is definitely not accident free, though.
Title & Miscellaneous:
*Clean (i.e. not salvage) title
*The car will have to be towed away, i think the distributor issue makes it completely non-driveable even with a fresh battery.
*To the extent that I can, I would use my AAA towing benefit to transfer this car to a place of your choosing
If it's not pretty obvious, I'm not a huge car guy and I'm just looking to get rid of this thing, and I'd rather not donate it "to charity" which will wind up getting pennies on the dollar of the actual auctioned price. I'd rather offer it to someone who can make use of it.
No reasonable offers (final transaction in-person, cash-only, please) will be ignored . KBB puts the trade in value of it in "fair" condition with 150k miles at $1,377
