From 98 to 99 only one mile driven? The owner must have lived REALLY close to the shop. Or was the car stored at the shop? Then suddendly in one month in 2003 it was driven 3000 miles?

I am not pulling anyones leg, you can call the dealership the car came in with the inside filled with cobwebs lol. No one ever drove this car after 1999 and if they did it was not often. The car was towed to the dealership recently and battery was completely dead, after installing new battery and changing fluids and brakes the car started right away and drives so amazingly well. If people dont believe me I can do compression testing or whatever else it takes to prove that this indeed has very low mileage. I will be taking it for a detail tomorrow and im sure many people will be surprised at the quality of its condition. There is not one spot of rust even in the underbody. This car was garage kept and I think went even as long as over 9 years without being driven. Pictures will be posted either tomorrow or saturday.

Sounds like a great barn find.

For Mercedes especially it does not surprise me to find gems like this that were purchased by the elderly, garaged for most of their life and driven very few miles.

I had spent some time a couple of years back looking for a w123 for my son's first car ... I wanted to start him out with something classic but relatively inexpensive. A nice early 80's 300TD would have been great. In looking for the car we ran across a few w124s, but I was told to beware as they were Mercedes' first experience with aluminum engine blocks and the engines had a tendency to develop oil leak problems.

That, and the age of the car may warrant combing through it to look for rubber that needs replacing.

I also don't know if the w124 still has the extensive vacuum system -- that may need some refreshing.

Otherwise, a combination of great body, interior and low miles is something that is hard to beat.
