Experiences with Auto Haus Naples, FL

I have found a 1985 280SL I like a lot at Auto Haus in Naples. Before I negotiate price (they are asking 9900K which I think is high) I want to know how reputable they are as I need to buy it sight unseen and ship to Europe. I will require a PPI, of course, but still want to get feedback if possible. Also, any ideas for what would be a fair price with 75k miles. I am thinking around 7k.

Read carefully. They are selling this car " true miles unknown".
No telling how many miles are on the car with out good records.

What would you suggest then? Would you consider the unknown mileage a deal breaker or just something to negotiate the price down further?

Btw, the Carfax shows the full progression of mileage since it was imported to the US back in 1985. Isn't reliable information?

Not always. I have checked the Carfax on some of my previous cars which were both wrecked and no mention of the wreck on the Carfax report. On cars of this vintage condition and records are far more important than a Carfax which may or may not be correct.

Again, read carefully. The Carfax pictured is to a 380sl.

The way to proceed is to see the car in person or get a PPI. Both are best.

Thanks. I already have someone lined up to do the PPI locally

Domimax, thanks for spotting the Carfax discrepancy. I contacted Auto Haus and they resent the "correct" Carfax which has mileage but no other facts. Would a good PPI be enough to compensate for lack of records or should I just drop this one? Any thoughts.

I don't need to rush on a purchase but I'm looking for a Euro 280 or 380SL in good condition for under 8k and haven't found anything. I did find lots in the UK but then have the problem with the right-hand drive...
