I had a 7 year love affair with the MB OM617 diesel motor in numerous 300D's and SD's, before I decided to build my dream truck- that motor in a Toyota Tacoma. A truck compact in size and well suited for the 3.0L turbo D, with an extended cab to seat 4, a 6 foot bed and 1/2 ton suspension for light to medium duty hauling, be able to pull a small camper, trailer, or car, get great gas mileage, and mated to the original, unmoved 5 speed toyota transmission and transfer case with 4X4. But I wanted the legendary longevity and reliability (and veg oil options) of that OM617 motor. I didnt want it to be a trail rig or an off-roader, I wanted a quiet, comfortable, refined daily driver truck, as close to stock as possible and fun to drive. It was the perfect pairing because that diesel needs a 5 speed to really wake it up, and the truck was 200 lbs lighter than a 300SD, curb weight. I built this truck to be my own and move to Central America with and drive for the rest of my life (Im 31), so I was meticulous in the details and did everything right the first time. It shows: it came out PERFECT and it runs and drives like a dream. However the import fees and regulations are preventing me from bringing it there, so Im selling it. For finding the right owner, it will take someone who appreciates the value of that OM617 motor first, and the fact that its in a truck second, to fully understand and appreciate the truck. That's why I'm listing here on BenzWorld. I felt justified in badging it with a three point on the front, because the heart of any truck is its motor, and this one has a strong heart. I see 400K trouble & worry free, and cheap miles in its future. It really is the Ultimate Truck.
