Was it shot by a stinger missile!? <-serious inquiry, lol.

Obviously, im not a buyer, but may I suggest you post some pics for those that are? People/prospective buyers tend not to take a for sale ad in all "Seriousness" coming from a new poster unless there is some effort to provide information/documentation/images.. i just wrote an ad for a $1400 mercedes.. it's descriptive(for the sake of transparency AND to create a sale), and took all of 8 minutes to write, including the time spent to take and post pics.. ya'know, cos id like to sell mine quickly as well... Good luck with your sale.

Once, i thought i was wrong; but i had only been mistaken...

Agreed. And why would anyone want a car like this? Cool, sure, but to drive to Starbux? A little over the top.

I wonder how they did the armoring for the frameless doors and pillarless windows. Just unusual that youd armor a sport coupe. And with $250k spent youd think one would start with an S600 and not the lesser model

Price? Pictures?

It's highly unlikely you'll get a serious response without them.

prolly another seller that thinks the double pane windows means the car is armored and it just feels like it weighs 10,500#

My f-250 ext cab long bed weighs around 6500# and I've had at least 3000# in the back. 9500#'s is a lot of weight. 10500 for the coupe is hilarious!...

Not sure how it is in the USA but ownership of armoured vehicles by private individuals is basically outlawed here in Canada.

You may want to check with your local DMV before letting your dreams of being the next Gaddafi go too far.

Steve,

Your post made me look into ownership of an armored vehicle in California and here is what is stated according to the DMV...

"V C Section 21713 Armored Cars
Armored Cars

21713. No person shall operate on any highway any privately owned armored car unless a license to operate such car has first been obtained from the commissioner in accordance with Chapter 2.5 (commencing with Section 2500) of Division 2.

Violation of this section is a misdemeanor and upon conviction is punishable by a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars ($1,000) or by imprisonment in the county jail for not to exceed six months or by both such fine and imprisonment. "

Being in the transportation industry it also springs to mind that you'd find yourself overweight for some roads/bridges and the like.

Because of the aforementioned purpose of being an escape vehicle and not a tank, Mercedes does not provide armor protection for the engine or the trunk. The S500 Guard weighs 802 pounds more than a regular S500, a weight equal to carrying four or five adult occupants. Mercedes says more weight would degrade handling and acceleration too much. Additionally, it is highly unlikely a bullet fired into the engine compartment would disable the engine immediately.
