I had a friend who was parting out an extremely well maintanied & low mileage 91 model 350SDL cream puff garage car. The car would have been a museum piece, but some teenager decided to try to build a new sexy Japanese/German hybrid car by T-boning his Mazda into the C pillar the most beautiful example of one of the last w126 cars to roll off of the assembly line in Germany. Considring that the frame would never be titled again; at lease I could save some of the last perfection parts made by the master craftsman of old W. Germany from das vhfadherland's Teutonic hands of the Boys from the South at Stuttguart.
The late model casting cylinder head was already sold, but I did get the genuine Mercedes-Benz Bosch injector pump and Garrett AiResearch Turbocharger. I couldn't stand to let those not be preserved in case I needed them.
My retired age parents have a nice 87 300SDL that I maintain, and they consider to be a member of the family. I was going to keep the parts for their car, but who knows, they may never need them. If anyone needs the parts I can FedEx them.
This turbo is a Garrett AiResearch T3 with the 0.55 Trim vane trim (TB0369/TB03); which was stock on the 3.5L OM603x '90-91 350SDL & '92-95 300SD/S350. Has a more efficient compressor map for 603s. with the Compressor 45mm/60 mm & Turbine 48mm. It is considered an ultra upgrade in boost and spinup for a 86-87 300SDL and is considered more durable and better in every way (boost, durability, cost, parts prices, oil leaks, efficient map) except for maybe a quick micro burst of boost that the KKK turbos can do as being smaller.
I inspected it on the donor car and found almost non-detectable, if any, play back-forth & up-down. Brand new ones have a tiny feel, and this one also has that same tiny feel. So I bought from the seller along with the injector pump & carefully removed them both myself. I cleaned the turbo and pressure forced some liquid assembly lube with Molybdenum and ZDDP in thru the oil feed for the turbo bearing before sealing in a great big zip lock bag.
I saw on the forums where someone sold a used Garrett T3 for $500 and the going rate for them used on ebay is in the $300-$900 range.
Almost new looking parts:
$250 for the Garrett AiResearch turbocharger
$300 for the Diesel fuel injector pump complete with all accessory parts
$65 for the timing device & cam roller under the timing chain
$90 for the starter
$100 for the vacuum pump with improved caged bearing design
