Can you send me photos, front, rear, interior?
I don't expect my car is what you are seeking but it is worth a shot. I purchased it because we had a third baby and I wanted a car that could accommodate the whole family. (My 1973 450sl worked with two small kids, but not three.) I wanted something "sporty" that could fit the whole family, long looking at GM A-body. But having already been caught up in the Mercedes 107 addiction, this "one of a kind" c107 SLC Convertible seemed meant for me. Bonus factors were the fact that it was originally one of only 2769 5.0 liter SLC cars made, about 200 of those being imported to North America, and one of two that Stephen Register of Atlanta, GA converted to convertibles with mostly SL components, such as the top frame and windshield. Recaro seats are also a nice addition for a driver.
I've been planning on spending about $4000 in upholstery work (mostly a new canvas top) but haven't gotten around to it yet. Your "rental fee" would certainly justify getting this all done immediately.
I've also attached some other examples of regular two seat cars of the same era. Notice how the different wheels can make the car appear entirely different. I can also remove the stock black rubber spoiler for a less sporty/ more classic look.
Finally, I also have a hardtop version of the same extended 107 body style.
Maybe more modern than what you are seeking... Maybe not.
