FS: '91 560SEC Coupe champagne/tan (concours winner)(IL)

Helping my father-in-law sell his 560SEC. Never driven in winter and nearly mint condition. No expense spared in maintenance and upkeep. Approx. 147k mi. Recently won best-in-class at the Geneva, IL Concours d'Elegance. No cracks, chips, tears or wear - inside or out. Truly flawless. Located in the Chicago suburbs.

Asking $18,500

I think others may share my opinion and experience, but unless it is Pebble Beach or some other major event, winning or placing in a Concours event is directly related to the number of applicants in that class and that event. I have won or placed in a few concours events because there were only 3 or 4 cars entered in my class. So without any details we don't know. IMHO a true concours winner would not have chipped wood on the dash nor a big dark spot on the drivers floor mat. I know of a guy that enters multiple concours events as he knows he may be the only car in that class at that event. I do agree that the car presented forsale is an excellent example of a well cared for w126 coupe. With a good PPI and no show stoppers it is probably a solid $7 to $11k car if your not in a hurry. The addition of a trophy or plaque would be a bonus, but is no substitute for the condition of the car at this point in time. We have all gone to look at a car advertised as having a new transmission only to find out it was rebuilt 5 years ago and has 80k on it. A concours winner only means sometime in the last 20 years it won some sort of event. Added value = very little in my book. GLWS

Thanks MBD, That is kind of where my thinking is at. Still, I'm holding out for a certain M120 C140 in WA, but I am out of the country now for a while... Sorry!
