This car needs a new crank shaft, a new engine or will provide an existing W123 owner with a wealth of good parts. The harmonic balancer broke, damaging the nose of the crankshaft and resulting in the crank bolt breaking off in the crank. See the photo. The engine was running until I removed the broken balancer, so if you can figure a way to repair it, you'll be back on the road.
The car has:
Less than 500 miles on brand new front end brake discs, calipers and pads.
Less than 3000 miles on brand new set of Monark injectors.
Brand new alternator. (I misdiagnosed the harmonic balancer issue as a bad alternator and installed a new one before realizing the real problem.)
The A/C conversion kit that replaced the vacuum servo with a circuit board. If you have a 77 Mercedes you understand why this $900 upgrade is awesome.
Near perfect green leather interior and smoking green paint job (see photos).
Good glass and power window motors(Drivers side motor is disconnected due to a problem with the aluminum linkage, but motor works fine).
Manual sunroof works perfectly.
When I first purchased this car there were a few small rust holes in the floorboard that I had professionally repaired (ground, welded and resealed). Other than that, the body is basically flawless. If you have a OM617 engine sitting around and are looking for a good body to drop it in, this is it. If you have W123 that needs a new interior or good replacement parts, this is for you.
There are 336,943 miles on the car and I have a complete set of maintenance records that go back to the late eighties, so you can know exactly what you are dealing with should you decide to scavenge parts off her.
Send me a PM if you are interested. Thanks.
