For Sale is a Euro model 500SEC 1984. It has some rare options besides just haveing the headlight wipers it has the headlight washer sprayers in the bumper.
I acquired this car from a friend who has done a lot of work to it. I have put on a set of AMG pre merger 16x8 Aero I wheels and new tires., tires cost $470.
Car was imported into California so it has the CARB import sticker on it and only has been registured in AZ for the last few months when my friend moved there from LA.
Here is a list of what has been done to the car:
replaced passenger side cam, towers and followers .
installed all new injectors and rubber injector seals, left the injector holders
alone as they were good.
installed new rubber connectors to Throttle body,
installed new Throttle Body gasket.
installed new rubber between YB and Fuel Distributor at the plenum.
new dist cap, rotor, plugs, and wires.
installed rebuilt Programma Idle Control Module.
Installed Rebuilt Programma Spark boc (on fender well.
rebuilt Fuel Distributor.
new valve cover gaskets.
bought used tranny and installed. Has the noise in reverse and short shifts between 2nd and 3rd. A Mercedes transmission guy said that the tranny needed the linkage adjusted and that the noise in reverse was the parking pall not adjusted properly. Never had a problem with the tranny, just that noise. Tranny came from an SEC and had been rebuilt by MB sometime in the past, hence the 310 series number that was only on cars in the nordic countries or MB rebuild numbers. (Parking pall is inside the transmission and is what what keeps the car on park. You getting it by removing the pan
installed new Cat, but that was over a year ago.
installed new O2 sensor,
installed Timing chain tensioner .
timing chain checked and guides were found to have been replaced before I got the car. . replaced oil pan Gasket and drain plug.
replaced tranny pan gasket, filter and drain plug.
Inspected Drive shaft center bearing and mtg, and found them good.
Inspected Flex discs and found to be good.
installed new shift rod bushing.
installed new thermostat. there wasn't one.
installed new water pump.
installed good used radiator.
installed new battery.
installed new kick down solenoid o-ring.
replaced the idle control valve
Car runs and drives great but needs some final adustments to make it ready for Calif smog. I have driven this car from Palmdale to West Los Angeles for work and few times and it cruses on the Freeway.
I was going to do a restore and put all the Euro AMG parts on it, but I am really more into the R129 models so I am going to let this one go to someone who wants something special.
Sale price is $3500 for car as it is, or $4500 with a complete parts car with a nice set of extra Euro bumpers, not wreaked, non cracked dash, no delam rear window, good trans, good engine, AMG GEN I body kit complete, AMG steering wheel, AMG black springs.
