Unfortunately the time has come to let one of my favourite Mercedes go.... I am going to post it up on ebay but throught I'd put it up here first. Along with the vehicle itself I have a lot of spares which I'm happy to include with the car if it goes for the right price. As many would know sometimes finding the part you want can take some time and there are a few items amongst the spares that you dont find every day. e.g. 4spd manual parts and a spare 240D manual flywheel.
If there are any questions at all, feel free to PM me.

Mercedes 240CD AMG body kit
, a Black 280CE 2dr W123 Coupe with OM616 240D 4spd MANUAL TURBO Diesel
Up for sale is a rare, one of a kind classic. This vehicle started out in 1979 as a 280CE W123 Coupe, for the last 7 years it has been a 240CD 4spd MANUAL TURBO diesel and served as a reliable and economical daily driver for the whole family.
As this is a rare and unique combination I’ve tried to answer some of the common questions. I also have a large collection of W123 spares including a 240D manual flywheel and spare gearbox parts. If you would like to know anything please contact me.
Current milage is 307,598km
Q: Why this combo
A: Because we are a big fan of the W123 and Diesels previously owning a ’76 W123 240D Auto, ’82 W123 240D Manual and ’94 W124 220E. The classic shape of the W123 combined no fuss reliability of the OM616 240D engine and flexibility of the 4spd manual makes for a relaxed combination. The addition of the turbo allows you to easily keep pace with the rest of the traffic on the road whilst maintaining great economy.
This also opens up a whole world of biodiesel projects!
Q: Fitting a turbo…. Won’t your engine blow up, melt down, you need special compensation module on the fuel pump etc…
A: NO, a properly tuned setup is perfectly reliable as this vehicle has shown. We averaged 20-30,000km a year for the last 7 years in this exact configuration with no issues. The fuel pump has been tuned and EGTs monitored under full load to ensure a safe, reliable tune.
Q: What is the fuel economy
A: We typically get 600km from a tank around town
Q: Why are you selling
A: To be honest, if it weren’t for an exciting career opportunity in the Northern Hemisphere – I wouldn’t be selling however practicality dictates a thinning of my Mercedes fleet to just one. It’s been a good 7 years and seen my 3 sons through University commuting, trips to the shops and gym during the week to roadtrips away with my wife but it is now time to move on.
Q: What about spares
A: I’ve owned various W123s over the last 10 years and accumulated a lot of parts and resources covering body, mechanical and chassis. If the car goes for the right price, you are welcome to all the spares to go along with it. A full list of spares is included below.
