Unfortunately the market for mid-80s SLs is pretty poor from what I have seen, I suspect because there were so many of them. People on eBay may not recognize the difference between a Euro model and a US spec one which also adds to the difficulty of selling this. No AC is also a strike against it, as the US spec models marketed during this time period would have it.

I would be all over this since it's a Euro AND a five speed but I live in Florida and lack of AC is a deal killer for sure.

Nice car, however, Good luck with the sale.

I would if I could! Currently up to my neck in cars+classes start soon. Good luck with the sale. Bozeman's Cruise on Main is tomorrow, drive over and slap a For Sale sign on it, couldn't hurt.

If for some magical reason you decide to part it out, I'll be first in line.

Instagram @derstrichacht for interesting W114/5 pics.

I still have my 1984 280 SL 5spd for sale. Have had interest but no-one bought yet. I discounted it to $9,000 due to some work that needed done. I just had the window regulator replaced and the center carrier and flex discs replaced. All she still needs is the valve seals. Despite repairs will still sell for the $9,000. (Weeks stay at khomestead.com is still part of the deal.

Your car looks fabulous. I really hope you find a good home for it. I can't offer more than encouragement at the moment, but I wanted to at least offer that. Good luck to you on the sale.

Thumbs up

You drive a 5 spd M110 and you will buy it. We got ours a few years ago, now if I had to sell all but one or two it would stay here. A blast to drive. GLWS

I'll bet $$ it is the throw out bearing.

Well.....at least you are being honest about it.

Great cars...easy to work on and fun to drive.

Ask me how I know.

I just drove my 280slc 4-speed to the barber shop after not driving it for months. Man, I'm an idiot for not driving this car every chance I can. It really is a blast to blow by every car on the road in my old little 6-cylinder. I swear it looked like the brand new Camaro next to me wanted to race me or something. I like to have fun driving, but I'm not a racer.

If you can live without AC and are anywhere near this car, I advise taking a look.

Klhomestead, how about taking some video inspections of the car for your long distance (potential) buyers?

Thanks for the idea and confirmation about my 280 SL. If only I was younger and had better access to a good mechanic. I would keep the beauty. I shall try to get someone to take a video & post it. I am still in the 20th century; that is why I have an 84 280SL & a 1985 300 D! Sometimes think I should have stayed with Model A!

I sold the car today to a local person. Sure had lots of interest from all over the country. Hate to see her go in many ways. Have to remain content with my 300D.Thanks for every ones advise past couple of months.
