- I gather this is a Euro model? Do you know if this car would pass CA smog certification?
Unless something has changed with the California Air Resources Board (CARB), titling and registering the car in California will require CARB certification.
I recommend you google "CARB automobile certification" and find out the specifics for what it will take. In the past, the process was $5000+, I have no idea what it is these days. I might even be wrong about it being required.
I think that the car will also need DOT certification, which was probably done when the car was imported. One evidence of DOT certification would be reinforcement of the euro bumpers. If there is a big piece of steel square tubing between the bumpers and the body, the bumpers were probably reinforced as part of DOT certification.
