FS 1985 300D Turbo Diesel $8,000
I bought in November 2012, with 138,000 miles. Presently has 144,000. Car was bought new somewhere in Pennsylvania, but spent its whole life in Florida. I bought it in Sarasota, FL, and flew down and drove it back to Dallas without incident.
I Have clear title.
Have prior owner's maintenance records back to 2001, including ball-joints, tie rods, AC compressor (134), auxiliary fan, control arms, drier, motor mounts, radiator and steering damper. Records that I have indicate that prior owner had oil and filter changes every six months, even if only a few hundred miles since the last one. One minor repair of rust in the right front rocker panel and rock guard cost less than $300, so I assume it was minor. It now has No, repeat No rust, on the body exterior or underneath, that I can find.
I also have receipts for work I have had done since I bought it. AC blew hard and cold until last week, when it began cutting in and out. Replaced AC control relay and Microswitch. Replaced master vacuum switch in Driver's door, 90 days ago, and it failed after 94 days. Having a new one installed, at this time. First time took care of slam-shifting and running-on, as well as non-functioning door locks. All worked properly until failure and I expect will be fine, once completed. Instruments flutter extremely, much of the time. Local dealer thinks an auxiliary ground will solve it.
Headliner, carpets and dark blue MB-Tex are excellent, no rips, tears or separating seams, but driver's seat padding is collapsing. Car appears to have had repaint and striping at some point, but in original pale grey. Dash top has usual cracks. Some repairs I have had done include replacing the primer pump, ignition switch and tumbler, shut-off valve and gasket, brake-pads, muffler, coolant recapture tank, four-wheel alignment. Except for one 2" rust through, behind the left rear wheel opening, which I had repaired. Trunk lid had a small up-dent from it being closed on something too tall. When rust spot was repaired, I had trunk repaired also. Paint matches rest of car beautifully.
Car runs, drives and rides beautifully. There is no slack in the steering or suspension and it has the best road-manners of any car I've owned. It's a real joy to drive and I would trust it from Dallas to either coast and back. I love driving it and it gets amazing compliments from people. I've had several ask if I'd be willing to sell it, but they were looking for a $3,000 price on a much better car. I am 74 years old, retired and have virtually no mechanical ability or a place to work on the car. Unfortunately, the cost of bringing it up to its present condition has been more than I can afford and I think I'd be better off leasing something new. The C250 has a very attractive lease program right now, which will include all maintenance.
I have some photos on this site, but many more that I can email, if you will send me a PM and we can discuss email addresses.
Additional comment: I have just noticed the color difference of the trunk lid, in the first photo. I did some enhancing to help the contrast and washed out color in my photos and I assume that explains it. In reality, there is nearly no difference between the trunk lid and the quarter panel top.
