OP says his thread has been killed. But every time anything is posted good or bad, including this post of mine, his thread gets BUMPED to the top! Not sure why that is a problem for OP.

If someone is interested in an R129, they should find his ad. However, after reading the thread, that may be as far as they would go!

Although I have not sold any cars through BW, I have bought 2 from BW members and believe the commentary has helped me purchase at a fair price and have reasonable expectations. My sense seems to be if you want to sell at a fair price, BW CAN be helpful, but you need to be willing to accept comments/criticism on the car in question. That's not necessarily bad IMO if you're simply looking for an honest, reasonable transaction. If, on the other hand, you simply want to get the highest price without any discussion of true market values or real or potential negatives, then there are probably better places to sell a car (ebay, etc). All things considered, I find great value in the comments/criticism/information and would not hestitae to try and sell an honestly represented car on BW. Just my two cents as I'm not a potential buyer for this car as the Seller's attitude just doesn't sit right with me.

Your fatal flaws in your thread are the following:
1) not stating that you either (a) don't know what your car is worth, or (b) are not really serious in selling it and this is really a "feeler" thread which can be indicate easily, or (c) simply won't state the dollar amount that would make you happy to get in exchange for your car.
2) you didn't answer the question asked by someone who was either (a) seriously interested in your car, or (b) simply wanted to help you post the information required to help sell your car for you.
3) The only number that you posted as a number that your would accept for your car is totally absurd. $30,000 is way higher than Blue book which seems to always be way too high. (I did not fact check this but read the posts in this thread.)

You would have been better off to come here and do what everyone else does (that typically annoys the regulars), and ask "what's my car worth?" in the old coy way. It's always fun to have these threads that are analogous to the hot girl at the party walking around saying, "oh, I'm so drunk and horny".

Get ready for thread-lock. Every time I write the above comment the tread gets locked.

Sent from AutoGuide.com App
"Asking Price is "it is for sale or trade" I have seen asking prices ranging from $4k to $30k plus on R129 SL's.

If it is required I put a asking price to post here lets just say
$ 30,000 / OR BEST OFFER and go from there. That should make it clear I have no set price in mind."

Above is my reply to 'rowdie" question about price. It clearly states I have no set price in mind and I later clarified to the reading impaired that I was NOT asking $30k.

I guess the lynch mob is so busy with the rope they do not
have time to read what I actually posted.

Spreading false information is more fun.

What's the point of kicking this dead horse?

You basically say that you've seen them go for $4k-$30k and "make me an offer", post a link to pics and that's it. Put a little effort in it and think of a reasonable asking price before posting. First I'd like you to show me where any R129 SL500 has sold for $30k in the last 6 months. Mine is a year newer with almost 1/2 the miles and I didn't pay anywhere near $30k and I bought it from a MB dealer.

Now you're saying that the one member interested doesn't have the money?? How the hell do you know that??

It's a shame because your car is a really nice example and the pano roof would get you more money than one with the standard hard top. If you had put a little thought into your for sale thread it might have had some serious interest by now.

Good luck with the sale.
What's the point of kicking this dead horse when it's no longer for sale?

What I said was "rowdie" made NO attempt to make an offer only a vague reference to a non existent cash offer he would have made.

He didn't make an offer because you wouldn't give him a valid asking price!!

Done with this thread.

on benzworld dot org.

To be clear here the first poster who started this problem NEVER made any attempt to offer any price.
Just blowing hard about his non existent cash.

You know what they say "Money Talks and BS walks" and he was clearly walking without talking.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt gave him the price range I have
seen R129's advertised for ($4k to $30k), made it quite clear
I was open to any offer and that $30k was NOT what I was asking.

No need to be kicking this dead horse anymore "rowdie" was successful in killing the ad.

I guess if you are a "Lifetime Premium Member" you get to tell other members what to do
and destroy their posts if you feel like it.

I respect the opinions of others when they are not vindictively placed in a post to do harm.
NONE of the posters bothered to contact me via PM with their opinion in a helpful or respectful manner.
I was not going to comment again but you insist on continuing to insulting me.
1. I had no intention of killing this ad. I really do not understand your position on this.
2. Lifetime Premium Membership will not get you preferential treatment from the moderators. The main benefits are being able to turn off the side bar and banner ads.
3. You have no idea about my financial situation. Please stop stating I can't back up what I said.
4. I stand on my reputation on BenzWorld.

All I stated was I am a cash buyer that was interested in the vehicle. I guess we have different ways of conducting business.

Please stop impugning my character. As I have previously stated I wish you success in selling the car.

Interesting.

1 seller, 28 posts, mostly in this thread. Contribution to forum = nill.
2 potential buyer, nearly 19,000 post major contributor to the value of this
forum.

Nuff said.

Sorry for not having anything intelligent to add, but this sure is a funny thread.

Or maybe I'll add this: OP, you might be better off taking your car to an auction where people have more money than brains and maybe you'll get lucky.

I would have been interested if it was a RH drive. Maybe there is a mod kit available?

Seriously, lehegle, it is quite apparent that you hold no respect here for the members.

So how about getting your wife or buddy to start at the beginning (without prompts) and see what they have to say.

I really think that you have been overly aggressive and pig headed from the beginning.

And the one guy that showed ANY interest here could buy your SL 10 times over.

Good lesson in sales here. I hope you learned it.
