Unhappy Interference engine question...

Recently my 1986 300E quit on me on the interstate. My first impression was it had to be the timing chain. I recently replaced a worn rocker arm and the camshaft but not the timing chain because we concluded it looked great.

I have over 200,00 miles on the car and should have changed it.

My crack technician and I haven't broken it down to inspect the damage, but the question came up...does this model have an "interference engine?

It seems to make a world of difference, so I need to know.
P.S. I have been 'restoring' the car over the past few years and really love it...I wouldn't even trade up at the opportunity.

Anyone know whether this model has an "interference engine"?
