1996 C36 AMG
It has 210,000 miles but is in really good condition.
Does have some light rust, but nothing major (or requiring panel replacement).
TONS of recent work
Here is the story of this car,
A man bought it in IL and put it on blocks for about 6 years (the second owner bought it with less than 1,000 miles around 2003. The second owner drove it, a lot, until about 2011 then he parked it in his garage and just kind of let it sit. He said that he was getting bored with the car. I recently purchased the car (I am a mechanic, for these cars..) because I liked it. The body is in good condition, a couple smaller dents but but it looks really nice. (one wheel should be refinished I ended up using some spray paint to make it look considerably better than it did, the paint was peeling). Various rust spots but nothing that cannot be treated and worked with. But the car needed work to get it going again but I wanted to make this car right again. so I did the following work:
brakes and rotors all the way around
water pump (coolant flush of course)
belt pulley and tensioner
(I pretty much drove the car and made it so that it was good to go there are more things that I did, but nothing major)
It does need some minor things though,
AC does not work, I believe it is the compressor
The shocks are not blown but the rears squeak when the humidity is right (I have not tried to lube the seals or anything)
The passenger window switch only works when you use the rear one with it (needs a center switch panel I would assume)
Once in awhile there is a squeak coming from the belt (it must be an idler pulley or the ac compressor, it is not all the time by any means)
The power steering pump is a little weak when the car is in gear and you are not moving, but the more miles I have put on the car this is getting a lot better, I did flush the system.
There is an oil leak from the front timing chain cover (easy job on these)
Otherwise the car is actually a joy to drive. I have put about 2,500 miles on the car and really enjoy it. (i own a c43, e500, and pickup I just do not need it). I am trying to be very honest with the car and not hide anything, it is a lot easier to know about the car now than to come and find out I was hiding things.
I am in the car $4500 without my time. I am asking $4900, that is what its worth.... I am not inclined to just dump the car or anything, so If you are interested lets be on the same page.
Please feel free to call or email, or if texting is your thing. I have more photos or can take any you would like.
