I do not see a problem with informing a seller of the value of their items. If the item in question is posted in a public area, it would be foolish to assume that no one will say anything or that it is inappropriate to say something. Common sense will tell you that. It is also common sense to be polite. But people tend to forget things over time, don't they? Informing someone of a possible price discrepancy does not necessarily have to equate to pissing in someone's food.
BenzWorld (at least in the w123 thread) tends to have a lot of straight shooters. I've found that to be more useful/helpful than offensive. Since this is a W123 forum, and all of the people in here have these cars, expect some form of feedback as we tend to be connoisseurs and not just hungry hoarders looking for a bargain.
That being said, Ms. Julia, I think your car is priced fairly okay. My first W123 was for $2,500, with near the same mileage and some similar issues, and I could only talk my guy down to 23. I didn't realize till later that I could have probably worked on the price a little more, and for my particular car, I paid a little more than what I should have. However, your price is a best offer and I think most people will see that you have no bad intentions.
