FS: 1980 240D - Amazing condition - <140,000 miles - Manual transmission - W123

1980 Mercedes 240D diesel sedan
Stick shift manual transmission
<140,000 miles
Registration just renewed
Located in Los Angeles, CA (Beverly Hills/West Hollywood)

Asking $5000

One German, Mercedes enthusiast owner (Klaus) for 30 years in Redlands, CA. In 2010 he sold to a friend of mine who transferred it to me after 2 months. The vehicle's in great shape, as clean as you'll find in and out. Has been garaged most of it's life. I have a lot of Klaus' records for the car, but not all. Since owning it, I've had a lot of services performed (mostly refreshing worn parts/preventative maintenance).

-Comes with original California blue license plates
-Average of 35 MPG
-Manual transmission/clutch is in good shape
-Dash is flawless. No cracks, nothing. Headliner perfect
-Original paint looks amazing
-Always starts right up
-Crank windows flawless and tight
-Oil changed every 3k miles
-Has early 90's Blaupunkt stereo which matches the interior (no lights or ugly styling) but has modern features like digital tuning. I will -also include the original 1980 stereo
-Have lots of service records
-Have original manuals and maintenance booklet with stamps from the dealer
-Idle adjustment key (choke) on dash still works
-SMOG exempt!

Mileage is <140,000

The odometer stopped working at 101,080 miles in December 1999). Was left like this for ~2 years during which ~15,000 miles were logged. Approximate miles verifiable from oil change/maintenance receipts. The instrument cluster was replaced and a new odometer went in. (I don't have the records for this service, but you could probably call the dealership and get the details!). 16k miles have been logged since then. Odometer reads 16,4XX. It's just been a weekend driver for the most part. I've put about 9000 miles on it in a little over 3 years.

Selected services I've completed and have records for:

-Front end steering/suspension replaced with brand new Mercedes parts (3/24/11 $857)
-Had all the motor mounts and transmission mounts replaced with OEM mounts (2/2011 $440)
-Injection lines replaced, valve adjustment, and other seals/ injection system stuff (5/24/10 $485)
-Replaced the radiator with a brand new OEM Behr (7/10/2010 $185 in parts)
-Replaced the thermostat and coolant on 7/14/2010 ($73 in parts)
-Fuel level gauge was replaced (?? don't have record)
-Transmission oil and differential oil replaced with Redline oil. Seal renewed. (6/25/10 $240)
-Brake rotors and pads changed with OEM (~7/2010 lost records! But you can see the shape they're in)
-Starter changed (By Klaus 9/28/1998 $1500)

The bad:

-A/C not working. I'm not sure if it needs a recharge or what. There are some records of Klaus having it serviced around 2000. Heat works well.
