Seeing what kind of interest there would be.
I have a 1985 300d Turbo Diesel, one family car.
Recently was painted to do away with the mess that was the stock paint as it was a florida car. It's not too pretty a paint job but is sufficient in keeping the elements out. The car lived in florida most it's life and has never seen a winter road.
Car has 188k on it. The speedometer started working only sporadically last year. No vacuum leaks, all locks work. All power works except the antenna and the cruise control needs to have the circuit board re soldered (worked for a while, iffy currently.) All windows also work, though the rear are a bit sticky and need to be refreshed. Sunroof has no issues.
Comes with both stock wheels and aftermarket wheels utilizing 205/55r16 tires. The tires on the stockers are gone, close to needing replacement on the aftermarket rims.
A/C works and is converted, though when let sit over the winter needs to be recharged by spring. The A/C system holds the charge fine all year, sitting seems to let it leak out slowly.
Engine has new glow plugs installed, recently changed fuel filters, oil change every 4000 miles, new battery and alternator last spring, recent air filter. Starts up no issue even when cold. Blow by test, the oil cap does not dance on the valve cover. Both outer tie rod ends are new. The car is a strong runner and I never hesitated taking it on longer trips.
-rear drivers side caliper is a bit sticky, will wear pads faster than other wheels.
-blinker/headlight switch is touchy, high beam fuses removed due to this (easy replacement
-seat springs up front are both broken as is typical
-shocks front and rear are original, need replacing
-missing both rear bumper end covers (great grandmother has no clue where one went)
- Rear section of exhaust has some minor holes, otherwise in good condition
- only major rust on car is behind driver side rear wheel. Car had gotten some water in the trunk previously and it ate away the front drivers side corner. not visible from outside the car and a simple fix. Otherwise the car is more or less rust free.
- there is slightly visible damage to the drivers side rear quarter panel as someone bumped the car in a parking lot, hence where the second bumper end cover went. Minor damage that popped back out for the most part.
I obtained this car from my great grandmother receiving it as a car nobody wanted. Most of this was due to minor maintenance issues. I'm an ASE certified mechanic and have taken good care of the car from that point on. I used it often to drive to and from work an hour away with no issues at all.
