Due to limited space and too many vehicles, I am offering my 1983 300TD wagon for sale. I purchased the car several months ago with the intention of using it as a replacement for my pickup that my brother has been using for the last several years. The car is no show queen, but is sound and rust free aside from some small surface rust spots. I thought about keeping the engine to transplant into my 1981 240d, but figured that I would offer the complete car for sale. Asking $2500 cash. The previous owner was an elderly gentleman that passed away and left it to his daughter. She wanted someone that wouldn't just scrap it but would take care of it. The registration and inspection are up to date.
The sls system is not currently working. The reservoir has fluid in it and I have not been able to find any obvious leaks. If it hasn't sold within the next week or so I will be pulling the pump and sls valve and accumulators and repairing/replacing them. The drivers seat springs are broken down and either need the springs repaired or the pool noodle trick done. The rear hatch struts have been recently replaced and hold up the hatch quite nicely. The front end drives straight but I believe that the majority of the front end components are original. Some of the clear coat is peeling on the hood due to engine heat because the dampening pad under the hood is no longer intact. There is a small dent on the front right near the trim and front turn signal lense. A/C does not work, however the heater does.
It is equipped with 3rd row seats, however the second row and third row seats do not have headrests. The first aid hatch houses a first aid kit, jack, tire tool, and tool roll. The vacuum system has been partially disconnected in the engine compartment. The door locks must be manually operated and the fuel flap does not lock. There must be a break in one of the lines.
The interior is navy blue and is pretty clean except for the rear hatch area. There is some wood that is loose and missing, but I have all of it. Not sure if the previous owner tried to replace the ignition tumbler or not, but the collar is not currently attached. I do have it in the glovebox though.
Engine runs good and is peppy. 202,000 miles. It will need valves adjusted, fluids changed, etc. Transmission shifts a little sharp, it probably wouldn't hurt to change the fluid and filter. Modulator may also need to be updated. I should also mention that the steel wheels and hubs/tires will be replaced with bundts. The steels will be going back on my 240d.
With all of this said I have tried to fully disclose everything about the car. I have uploaded over 50 pictures to flickr and if there are any questions or you would like more specific pictures, please do not hesitate to respond here or pm/email me. I am open to any feedback that you may be willing to provide. I am asking $2500 cash. I am not interested in trades at this time.
