1987 420SEL "Pimpmobile"

1987 Mercedes Benz 420SEL
Dayton, OH
Smoke Silver (resprayed) with Medium Red leather interior
M116 4.2L V8 engine with 4 speed automatic
182,xxx miles (12,000 miles on rebuilt motor and transmission)
Complete strip and paint work done in 2009
$8000 cash takes this car. I have more then $8,000 in paint/engine work in the past two years in this car easily.

This car was purchased by the head mechanic of a local exotic car shop which is partially owned by the owner of Dayton Wire Wheel. This car has been garaged and hasn't seen salt since taking ownership. The wheels started out as a joke but have stayed with the car for almost 10 years now (before taking ownership). The wheels have been professionally reconditioned and are VERY well taken care of ever since. They are removed and detailed twice a year (slightly OCD) but clean up very well with the use of Dayton Wire Wheel cleaner. The car is driven on average 15k miles a year with absolutely no issue, especially with the recent drivetrain rebuild. It starts up and runs beautifully, even with this new E15 mix of gasoline. It does have hot start delays ONLY due to the E15 vapor locking in the fuel rails. This is not an issue when using none ethanol mix gasoline.

This car has been to many car shows and has received the gambit of reviews from onlookers and judges. Having a sense of humor is required when owning this car (with these wheels at least). The car sells as-is and makes a great daily driver in any temperature (AC blows cold, heater blows hot), and rides very well considering the 20"s. The most recent receipts come with the car, as well as the original factory manual. The paint is 8/10 if you compare it to brand new Mercedes, but I can guarantee you will not find a cleaner W126 on the road today. This is the last generation of hand-built Mercedes and the build quality is still there. It is amazing how relevant this chassis still is after all these years, the handling is surprisingly neutral and emergency lane change maneuvers are done with ease. This is a great driving car.

Yes, good correction there. Skinny fingers still allow room for error when typing.

Oh wow. The wheels make it look like an old school Caddy. It just needs some white walls on it.
