Preparing to sell my 1990 350SDL

(If I need to move this thread, let me know, and I apologize)

Here is my thread showing the car
http://www.benzworld.org/forums/4724304-post1.html

I bought it last year from an old couple who kept it in great shape. Since then I have put new [very nice] tires on it, recharged the AC, replaced the vacuum pump, fuel filters, engine belt, and rear brakes. Currently it needs the power steering pump replaced (its driveable) and new struts. The odometer still doesn't work, but I got used to not needing it.

I need to sell the car since I just had a kid 9 weeks ago and my wife wants us to get a more modern car (with airbags and what not), despite this car being a tank. I would like to get at least $2500 out of this car to help pay for the new car.

My question: do you think this price is reasonable once I replace the power steering pump and struts, or should I try to sell it as is for that price? The car is in great shape, has great pickup for being so heavy and I see no reason it won't continue to run great for many years to come.

You should repair those issues to make it more saleable. With the 350sdl's reputation for catastrophic engine failure you would do well to sell it for $2500. You might try to sell it at carmax.

That is a good point, but I thought it was also well known that this could be avoided by simply changing out the glowplugs every 50k miles or in my case ~4 years (before they failed which causes the afore mentioned engine failure).

You're probably more of an expert on the vehicle than I but they are called rod benders due to casting issues. I don't know how changing glow plugs would help.
