The elusive Lorinser LO motherload - ideal fits for 560sl and w123
The fellow in Baltimore has apparently been working hard on acquiring Lorinser LO wheels for his 560sl.
Add in my 8x16 et22 and he has three sets. Then add in the 7" set I'm about to pick up, and we can make all configurations. With the exception of the 7", the problem is that none come cheaply, and could possibly even require work.
The guy in baltimore will probably want to keep:
... On his car:
- two 9x16 et10 for the rear of his car
- two 8x16 et22 for the front of his car
... As a set of extras since these are so rare:
- two extra 8x16 et22 (in case of damage to the above et22)
- two 8x16 et11 (in case of damage to the above 9")
So here is what I believe will be for sale:
- two 8x16 et22 (Fits the front of a 560sl !)
- two 8x16 et11
- four 7x16 et23 (fits under the front fender on a w123!)
A 560sl owner will want the et22 for the front of their car, and to probably match them up with the 8x16 et11 for the rears.
The 7" are desirable as set of wheels that won't poke out too much on the front of a w123. They are currently chromed though, and if you want me to strip the chrome, that will be an extra $100 per wheel which gets the nickel off leaving copper that can be ground and sanded off as needed. You can see these wheels in another recent thread. Add $100 per wheel if you want chrome stripped, and $25 per wheel beyond that if you want them ready to mount (just covers my cost of painting).
While the 7" are pretty cheap, I'm not seeing the 8" sets coming in under $1500, maybe even more. I have yet to see pictures myself of their condition, but I know the guy in Baltimore was quite selective in his shopping. So I don't think any have chrome. I can get straightening and lip repair done under $100 per wheel.
Just thought I'd throw this out there knowing how elusive these wheels are. I can arrange with the guy with the motherload, but as I said, he's not selling cheap.
My dream car is a classic sporty five speed (stick+overdrive) convertible that seats five. If, you want 70's-80's Mercedes tuner wheels, let me know.
