1991 420SEL W126 $2750

1991 Mercedes 420 SEL

$2750 - Firm

228K Miles
Dark Gray exterior with tan interior

Car runs and drives very good. Has slight rough idle. Minor oil seepage but not enough to drip on the ground. A/C Does work, not ice cold as with just about every W126, but it has worked the past two summers with no issues.
I have all service records previous to me purchasing it, there are none after I purchased it because I performed all the work myself
Under body is very solid, no floor rust or frame rot
Rear window has light tint applied several years ago by a professional shop, still in excellent shape
Entire top end of engine was rebuilt/replaced, basically everything from the head gaskets up, 10 Years 130,000 Miles ago due to timing chain failure
Engine does not burn lose any noticeable amount of oil during the 3000mi oil change intervals
Car was driven on highway a lot by me, taken on several long trips, gets a consistent 19 mpg burning premium fuel
Transmission has been rebuilt at some point in it's life, no paper record but there are exterior indications of rebuild, fluid is clean, shifts normal, no delay going into reverse
Parking brake does work and is used regularly to ensure continued proper function
Tires have 7-8 32nd remaining - Michelin primacy mxv4
Everything works in the car except the recirculation feature for the climate control - Vacuum leak somewhere, not worth fixing to me and the exterior temp display
The arm rest that is on there was fitted from a 1994 W124 Chassis, The top to the arm rest needs to be replaced
Vehicle was maintained at my shop where we specialize in german cars for a couple years before I purchased it from the customer
I'm selling the car because I have 4 cars and a motorcycle and no garage to keep them at

Work done since I took possession - 1.5 years ago

Several A/C Components - Condenser, Compressor, Receiver Dryer, Expansion Valve, R134 Conversion
Timing Chain
Valve Cover Gaskets
Spark Plugs - O.E. Bosch
Distributor Cap & Rotor - Bosch
Rear Coil Springs - Lesjofors
Rear Shocks - Bilstein
2 Shifter Linkage Bushings
Antenna Mast
Viper remote start/keyless entry installed - The alarm feature was not installed and the factory alarm was disabled, 20 year old german tanks aren't exactly popular cars in the car theft world anymore
All sunroof linkage was replaced with good used parts, functions properly
Mono valve for heater (Heater control Valve)
Voltage Regulator in alternator
Air Filter - Replaced with K&N
Fuel Injectors removed, cleaned, tested, and reinstalled. They are all brass injectors
FULL Stereo Upgrade

6 Full Range Kenwood speakers (4x6" in dash, 6" in doors, 5 3/4" in rear deck)
Two JL Audio 6" Subwoofers mounted in custom enclosures installed where first aid kits used to be
JL Audio 2ch amp to power subwoofers
Alpine 4ch amp to power interior speakers
Amplifiers mounted to plate behind fuel tank
Kenwood Head Unit
All new speaker wire
Car is wired for an additional amp if a large box with larger subwoofers would like to be added in trunk

In the spirit of full disclosure the bad things that I know of on the car are:

Some rust spots on body were recently repaired via grinding, rustoleum rust fix, and rust encapsulator
Those spots are on the front fenders where they meet the bumper, rear quarter panels where they meet the bumper, top of windshield, and right rear door.
None of them were major spots, just wanted to stop it before it got worse
Vehicle was involved in an accident some years ago - old carfax report included
Right Rear quarter/door was damaged
Paint in that area not perfect due to not being factory paint and being painted several years ago
Right thrust arm bushing making some noise over bumps
just starting to go bad and has no danger of causing any damage anytime in the near future
Small (about 3") tear on bottom of drivers seat

Since I am new to Benzworld and may not be trusted, Baronyoungman can vouch for me and my car, My shop maintains his fleet and I know him personally

I am in chicagoland
