This car is a North American 380sl though. I know the Euro 380 was a powerful engine. I guess it is possible that someone put a Euro 380 engine in this North American 380sl. But I assume that is pretty difficult to tell since both are m116 engine blocks.

How can one tell the difference by looking at the motor?

... And I assume that Euro 380sl cars didn't have 85 mph speedometers.

I purchased the steering wheel on 8-5-2012 on ebay.
I have sent 2 messages to the seller requesting shipping information. To date I have not received a response or the steering wheel.

Just stating facts here nothing else yet. If I receive the wheel I will report back.

hi guys , i bought the rims. i really believe the guy is honest . he does this parting out as a hobby . Car is located in a legit garage of an established mercedes benz mechanic . rims were 95 percent what i expected. they need cleaning and polishing . I saw the seats and sat in them ,not bad shape ,two tone color fade. battery was out of car so I could not see if seats were electrically operational. it took the seller a few weeks to remove tires and rims from car . as far as I can tell ,he is a gentleman . was always very straight forward when i spoke with him

It would be nice if the seller was better with communication. A lack of communication leads to thoughts of the worst case scenario. That's not how someone wants to feel when dealing with lots of hundreds of dollars on the table.

The communication required to sell and the time to ship these used parts makes it not really worth the seller's time. So I understand if they only do it every few days or so, but it they have a program to handle it, they should advertize. For example, make Monday evening the night you answer all the questions, or maybe two days each week or something. Communication is time consuming, but not hard.

kmukherjee:

If you need any assistance in figuring out how to ship reasonably, I'd be glad to assist. Here are a few things I've heard/experienced:
- I like USPS, but only for packages under ~82" around in any direction. A 22"x20" box with 84" around will be a lot more expensive than a 20"x20" box.
- Because of the above, it is often cheaper to use multiple packages, even with other carriers.
- I think 50lbs per box might also be another limit. Again, more smaller boxes.
- I was able to do a "consolidated freight" shipment (for those Lorinser LOs you once said you wanted... remember?) with UPS, which was a total hassle, but once i figured out the Airport-to-airport shipping method, I am now likely to use it again for air-frieght.... but that probably won't apply since you can go ground.... speaking of going ground...
- Greyhound... I'm not sure how it works, but I've heard it is the cheapest way to go for ground frieght.

... not that I want you to go with the cheapest shipping on Rowdie's items. Take good care of him.

Don't forget to communicate.

The lack of response via ebay prompted the posting here. Thanks for responding.
