Looking to buy 2003-2004 CLK55AMG

This is my first post in Benzworld, have been active in Pelican parts Porsche Turbo forums for years. Presently I am considering buying a 2003-2004 CLK 55AMG and would appreciate any input from members as to what to look for , potential problems, persistant problems, etc, etc, associated with this particular series.
I have owned several MB's in the past and am a DIY'er unless its major repair needing a lift (Heaven Forbid)
I would also like to thank all that have posted much info on the CL55 AMG series problems associated with the dreaded ABC system. I was considering that model until i read them their experiences, some quite humorous.

MY2005 brought about some welcome changes, some cosmetic interior freshening and electrical bus changes. There aren't any major chronic issues with an 04/05 CLK55.

My 04' has been great. Over 110k miles and still feels new.

03' could have a radiator problem which causes anti-freeze to leak into trans. You will find plenty of info on this forum about it. If the trans shifts fine but you have one of the problem radiators I suggest replacing it just to reduce the risk.

look into the 2005. I know some of the CLK was analog then switch to digital for the SOS, See if you can find one with the phone system install. If I knew 5 years ago I would of look for a 2005 instead of a 2004.

Ah, good point! And right now MBUSA is offering a special $299 "lifetime" eMBrace subscription that would only be valid for cars with digital TeleAid systems.
