1985 W123 300D with lots of power... for a diesel. Solid daily driver. $1800 firm.
I got this car in march as an impulse buy, thinking I was going to put a manual transmission in it. Not gonna happen unless someone offers me a good deal on a manual trans that will fit.
$1800 firm, you could easilty spend more on a beat rust bucket.
I also love the lines of this car and have had several.
It is a 1985 W123, the last year they made these, as far as I know.
I looked it up online and this model year has the most horsepower of all the W123 diesels, even though only 3 or 4 more.
I reached out to Pierre Hedary in Florida and he says that this model has some factory updates that make it more powerful than previous 300D models.
I bought it, even though it needed a lot of little things because of the power and acceleration it had. I was very impressed. I've had half a dozen mercedes diesels and aside from 1995 E300D, this has the best pick-up.
The transmission shifts nicely and seems to have been serviced recently because of the way it doesn't roll back when stopped facing uphill on an incline.
Engine is clean with no leaks that i've noticed.
Brand spanking new battery.
Starts first click, first thing in the morning after sitting 1 month.
Sunroof works good.
4 good tires.
Clean bundt rims.
No funny smell.
The body is straight, but has some typical rust around the jack points and on one fender, but not at all typical for the northeast. All shock mounts are clean.
The underside is almost completely rust free and the seats posts are clean, except 1 that will need minimal attention.
This car is a solid driver that needs the following which I will be fixing and thus raising the price:
A/C compressor is disconnected ( could be the clutch, but I will just replace the compressor and clutch)
Both rear windows jumpy.
front windshield has a crack in it on lower passenger side(shouldn't affect classic registration and New Jersey doesn't do safety inspection anymore)
Needs front rotor turned as the brakes feel like the previous owner just replaced the pads.
