Is there a way we can stop these people from posting till let's say 25-50 posts. Don't like doing that personally but looking at increased activity of such posts..................
I concur that something must be done to stop these posts by people whose sole purpose of joining BW is to sell something. I am convinced that half of the cars that show up in the FS forum are car dealers or wannabe car dealers. Tell me, when was the last time anyone
has purchased anything
one of these so-called members has offered? I'd bet never or almost never. That's what craigslist and eBay are for. It may sound snobbish, but I feel like you should have to earn
the right post an item for sale in the FS forum here on BW, otherwise how is the BW FS forum any different from craigslist?
Before I bought my 911, I joined 6speedonline.com (Porsche forum) to post a for sale ad to help a friend sell his P-Car. I was dismayed to learn that I could not post an ad in their FS forum until I was a member for 30 days and had 20 legitimate posts (or something close to that). Period. I was pissed for a minute, but then I stopped to think about it. Did I have any intention upon joining this community and participating? No. Would I bring anything of value to the community? No. I was only attempting to sell a car for friend. To that end, what reason what I have to even be honest and disclose issues that the car had? No reason at all to be honest. Not like I would be coming back. I would have brought absolutely nothing to the table. End of story.
If such a rule were instituted here on BW, I think that the items listed in the for sale forum would be higher quality items, with better odds of full and fair disclosure. Items would be offered by people who are actually members of our community, not just someone using BW as another conduit like eBay or craigslist for peddling their wares.
