WTB: Automatic Transmission for 1985 300 CD.

I'm in need of an automatic transmission for a 1985 300 CD. Please contact me through PM or reply. You can also call 540-308-9210 and ask for Kurt. I'm located in the Charlottesville, Richmond Virginia area.

Thanks.
Kurt

I think these are compatible between all W123 diesels and maybe even gas models too... but I happen to have a 1982 300CD with an engine that's knocking. Car has a little over 200k miles and runs well enough that you could drive it around to verify the transmission. Plan is to transplant in a V-8 engine in which case I think I would also need to swap the transmission (?), plus I know where there's a manual transmission (in a 240D) waiting to be pulled which I'd rather use if at all possible with a M117. Transmission is fine, and I'm in Maryland and have a car lift at my garage. I *don't* have any experience pulling transmissions though, so I would hope that you could help with that and let me know what tools would be needed. How much would it be worth to you?

I have two automatic transmissions from two different 1984 300D sedans sitting on the floor in my garage. Both came from running/driving cars. First car got scrapped due to excessive rust and moldy interior. Second car got parted out because the harmonic balancer fell off and it had some body damage. The first car only had 177K miles the second about 240K. I also have a 78 300D in my drive way that I plan to part out. It runs and drives. Out of the three the first one would probably be the best. Lowest miles and from a turbo 300D. (I think that most W123 transmissions will bolt up to your engine and will probably make the car move, but the shift points will most likely be different from a gas to diesel, turbo to non turbo, 4 cylinder to 5 cylinder etc.) Anyway, I would be happy to sell you one of these trannys for $250 plus shipping costs. I am in the central florida area. I am not sure, but I think Greyhound would be the cheapest. PM me for more details.

I have a 1980 300D NA with only 80k. The harmonic balancer fell off and the semicircles for the pins in the crankshaft are worn to ovals...so although the engine has low miles I'm not sure what would be involved to fix this...any advice? If I don't fix it, I'll have a low-miles auto tranny for sale in Maryland in case anyone's looking farther up the east coast...along with the rest of the car...
