After consulting with a few people about the value my 380SL i have decided on the price of $4500.
The car has abput 166k miles on it.
The paint is in pretty good condition, there is no rust anywhere (garaged California car). There are some minor small dents and scratches to be expected on a 27 year old car.
The engine runs strong, uses no oil and it pretty tight. There might be some very small leaks, nothing major.
Heater works great, air has not been working for a few years. The car has only been used open for the last few years and I didn't see the need to have the airconditioning recharged. I am not positive that it only needs recharging, but that is my guess.
The leather on the seats is kind of hard. I've had sheepskin covers on them for as long as I have had the car 12+ years. The carpet is in very good condition. I've always used floormats. The dash is in good shape, no cracks.
All the instruments work except the clock.
The car is mechanically in good condition. I would not hesitate to take it on a 500 mile drive today.
I have found a place to get a couple Bunt Wheels.
My wife's car died and we will probably use this car for a short time while we are looking for something for her. She wants a modern station wagon, so if you have one to trade, that might be an option. We have had a 300TD before and she does not like the sluggishness of the old Diesels, even the turbos.
The car has been maintained by a dedicated Mercedes mechanic. He has worked on Mercedes his whole life and learned from his dad who was factory trained. A potential buyer would have my permission to view the complete file with the history of all work done. Mainly maintanance.
I travel a lot. If you want to have a look please send a message.
