Unhappy I Did a Bad Thing-Please Help

While removing an ill fitting dash cap, I totally destroyed my original dash. I was not in the beat condition anyway (hence the cap) but now I need another dash. Blue or black, ship to zip 95503. Please email me directly with what you have available. dws@suddenlink.net Car is a 1970 280S.
TIA
David

I have a cracked dash cap, and I would like to know how this happened so that it doesn't happen to me when I replace it (I have a replacement).

I know where it was glued, and my general plan is to cut it in sections with a cable-operated Dremel and a cutoff wheel and remove the RTV'd pieces carefully. Was yours glued with something else, or entirely slathered with it? (I followed directions and used it generally only around the edges.)

Stock dash was loose to start with as all the screw holes were broken out and nothing holding it in except the tabs in the front. Just started pulling the cap off and the dash came with it. If you are able to get it started, cutting it with scissors or tin snips is a good idea too, then use something like a metal straight edge to get between the dash and the cap to help break up the silicone adhesive. If that doesn't work, yank the whole thing out, throw it across the driveway and swear at it, that's what I did.
