FS: 1996 S600, 65K miles, $6000

Sounds like a great deal and it is, here's the catch. Today my water pump seized and the belt came loose. The car is sitting at the repair shop and my quote is 3K - 3.5 to do this job. The car is in great shape, it is dark green, lorinser body kit, 18 inch staggered AMGs, ran awesome until this AM. I just don't want to deal with this repair. If you are handy I am sure this could be done by a home mechanic. Let me know if you are interested. I can grab some pics of the car at the shop but it will not be until tomorrow (with pics of the belt/pulley areas).

Please call me if you are interested.

618-977-5922. Clear title in hand. Won't take much to get this car back to tip top shape and will run forever!

I can post pics tomorrow. Strangely, I don't have any pics of my car!? This is a sort of a spur of the moment decision, honestly don't want to deal with the backlash from the sig other for this repair.

When I looked at it the engine doesn't look bad. Some of the pulleys (is that what the grooved pieces that the vbelt sits in are called) has some gunk from the belt disintegrating that will need cleaning. The pump is only 350 (with a gasket), pulley belt about 40, then the mechanic quoted roughly 20 hrs labor (yikes). If I don't sell it I am tempted to bring her home and work on it slowly myself. Looks totally do-able. She is as clean as she looks (and the pics are of the car very dirty!).

Its a tuf job.. You will need the right tools and experience. He is probably over quoting you by about 5 hours but the biggest part of the job is getting the studs out of the pump with out breaking them. I would also recommend buying new ones as the old ones sometimes are corroded...

Or find a better shop...

or you can pay 150 for the aftermarket pump.... and find some cheaper labor...
