Hi Jerry,

Your car looks nice. You did a very nice job describing your car. This is the type of car that will get some interest in an enthusiast forum, provided you do a couple of minor things. Here are a few suggestions to assist you with your sale.

1. Remove the middle "0" on the trunk lid and throw it in the waste bin.
2. Remove "6" from it's current position, apply suitable adhesive, and reposition to the place where the middle "0" was.
3. Get a "5" emblem from your friendly local MB dealer, apply adhesive, and place it where the "6" was placed.
4. Remove any "V-12" decals and place them in the waste bin or save them for sentimental reasons.

Of course, it is your vehicle and certainly completely up to you what you do to it. But, people in forums like this feel that application of bogus decals is for posers and no one will be impressed by them - it's sacrilege here. Around here, people know that there is no such thing as a 1986 600SEC.

Good luck with your sale!

PS - Though you mention it twice, the 560SEC was never built by hand.

That's beautiful. But why did you take a picture of a picture? Kind of hard to see details that way.

I've always wanted to know from someone who has actually done it... why re-badge with incorrect badging, on purpose?

Where is it again that we are going... And why are we in a handbasket?

That's a damn good question, Ears.

Jerry, we need your help. Inquiring minds want to know. Would you please state your rationale for befouling such a beautiful vehicle with emblems from a vehicle that did not even exist until 1992? Thanks!

Nice try, but wrong again, Jerry. It's up to you what you say in your ad. But, when you ad contains misrepresentations, expect to get called out on it in an MB enthusiast forum. I made a few suggestions to help you understand what will help you sell your car in a forum like this.

The last mass-produced MB (like yours) to be made by hand was the W108/W109 which ended in 1972. Some limited production models, like the W100 (1963-81) and the 5.0L W124 (1990-1995) were also "hand-made".

"Hand-made" or "built by hand" implies that the entire assembly process is accomplished without the aid of automation. These type of vehicles are not made on a typical assembly line. The welds are done by man, the paint is applied by man, and so on.

Your car is a nice car. Why not accept it and market it for what it is; not misrepresent it as something it is not (bogus badges, "hand-built", etc.)?

Maybe these misrepresentations will pass in a Craigslist ad to an under-educated buyer. However, it's a real turn-off to people in an enthusiast forum like this one.

I am the original owner and I was told when i purchased the car at the dealership that the SEC was hand built. My car is as described. If you like it you can buy it and change the emblems.
Thank you

First time I've heard the "million mile" claim for a gasser. Usually reserved for the diesels. Pretty car btw, glws.

Too many cars is NOT an addiction..

I'm down to 2 W123's.. Wonder what's next?

Ohhhhh, you believed the sales guy at the Dealership. Now I understand, that certainly makes it believeable because we know those guys would never stretch the truth.
