Final update per Dave's request.
I always give people the benefit of the doubt until they give me a reason not to. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend purchasing anything from jfrankmotors unless you are physically able to inspect the merchandise before buying. There are lots of vendors who are honest and care about their customers. It is my opinion that the person using the jfrankmotors handle on this forum has a long way to go to be considered among them.
The rest of this post is my justification for this statement. I would skip it if you have no intention of buying from jfrankmotors.
As background, I have decades of sales and management experience - 'been around the block a few times', as they say. This post is long because brevity failed to convey jfrankmotors pattern of behavior.
I realize the lights purchased were used but upon inspection I actually wondered if he had sent the wrong set. Unless he is legally blind there is no possible way the lights received were accurately described.
Upon receipt, I e-mailed him that the lights were not in the condition specified. He ignored the e-mail until I posted photos here. He then claimed he had been in the hospital with a concussion and missed my message. I'd been watching him log into his BenzWorld account during the same time period so I had a clue about about the coming attractions. As I said, I trust everyone until they give me a reason not to.
He made noises about doing the right thing but then dragged his feet (offered zero solutions without my prodding) and tried to change the facts of the sale (it became an 'as-is' transaction regardless of his pre-sale description). It soon became obvious he had made pre-sale claims he thought I needed to hear to make a sale.
After seeing my post here, his initial reply was to replace one rusted reflector. He later said he would try to find better reflectors (plural). If by 'try' he meant go completely silent, then he succeeded. When it became clear he had no intention of seriously working toward a fair solution, I offered to return them for a refund. He then wanted me to pay $50 for outbound shipping and actual costs for the return. That is when I contacted PayPal's dispute resolution. After having him continually dodge the truth of his pre-sale statements and continue to make false claims with zero supporting evidence, I paid to ship them back and he refunded the purchase price.
It's my experience that if a reputable vendor makes an honest mistake, they admit the error and offer to make right. It's smart business and the morally right thing to do. In more than 30 years of business transactions, jfrankmotors is the only vendor I've dealt with that makes the customer pay shipping charges due to the seller's mistake.
I'm stating my experience as a courtesy to others but have no intention of arguing facts in a public forum. I value my free time and will not be subscribing to this topic. I am able to document all my claims and will gladly do so via PM if anyone thinks this is a hit-and-run and I have an axe to grind. Simply stated, I am moving on. If the moderators feel my attitude is unjust and decide to delete this post, so be it.
