1977 Mercedes 240D

Hi all...
I have my 240D up for sale. Car runs great, especially considering its 34 years old. Gets ~ 35mpg or better. Has Goodyear tires with 80-90% tread, new brake pads all the way around, new rotor on left rear, new caliper on right front. Upgraded the loop style glow plugs with the Bosch Duraterm fast glow, glow plug kit. I can not describe how much of an improvement this kit made in the car! And three years ago I had the auto trans rebuilt and its operated flawlessly since.

It does, like most vehicles, need some work. Nothing major, just normal maintenance items. First, the carrier bearing for the driveshaft needs to be replaced. Parts are less than $100 at O'Reiley's. Here is a link to a site that gives step by step instructions with pics on how to replace.

Secondly, where the speedometer cable attaches to the trans, its leaking. The little rubber washer needs to be replaced which simply involves detaching the cable, installing the washer and reattaching the cable. No biggie.

I drove the car daily until the carrier bearing began making noise. I just have too many irons in the fire these days to tinker around with the car anymore. Please let me know if you're interested. I'm asking $2500 and that is a steal. Thanks for looking. The vehicle is in Tennessee.

Hi RM..

I can get you some interior pics. The interior is there. Its not ripped up and torn; but its not perfect either. I would describe this car as a daily driver, "utility" car. It can definitely be a really nice car if someone wanted to put some time into it. I bought it just for the fuel mileage. It has some surface rust in places and I think there is a small spot of more significant rust around the bottom, interior of the driver side door. I'll confirm that and take pic.

The odometer shows 307K, but it hasn't worked since I've owned it so.....

I have the title in hand, free and clear.

The car is in Winchester TN, about half way between Nashville and Chattanooga, just west if I-24. I have the car at my work and I live 15 miles from work so it'll be Monday before I can get the other pics.

If you'd like me to email them, PM me with your email and I'll be glad to do that. Oh, the A/C was cooling but the clutch was starting to go out. The clutch appears to be replaceable independently from the compressor so you could probably get the air going without much investment.

Any other ? please just let me know and thanks for looking!!!
