Bought this last year from a BW member to use while the door on my 280SE was being repaired and to have for my parents to drive for the summer on their visit north from Florida. Door is fixed and parents not coming for the summer. Too nice to just leave sitting around.
Well sorted and well documented in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition with extensive documentation going back to the original sales invoice (original MSRP - $48,970).
This car was originally purchased at Sears Imports Mercedes-Benz in MN in 1986 and was owned and well cared for by the original owner until 2010. It was then purchased by an MB enthusiast, whom I purchased it from. This is not a used up, beater Mercedes, but a well cared for classic that shows and drives exceptionally well. Extensive service records are included showing service at Sears Imports and Feldman Imports (franchised MB dealer). There is NO RUST anywhere on this car.
The interior is extremely nice with absolutely no rips or tears anywhere. Everything, except the clock and outside temperature gauge, work as they should. The AC works; the sunroof operates quickly and smoothly; the windows all work; the radio (original Becker Grand Prix) and new antennae work; cruise control works; all lights work (even the little map lights, the lights at the bottom of each door, the make up lights in the visor). Everything works! The trunk is immaculate and contains the original spare, jack and tool kit, all of which appear to never have been out of the car. The original safety/medical kit is also in the car. The nets on the back of the seats are tight and not all stretched out. Headliner is clean and tight. Gauges are nice and orange which indicates indoor storage and excellent care.
The exterior is in great shape with original, shiny paint. There are NO scuffs on the bumpers as you see on many cars of this vintage. The chrome is shiny, without any pitting. There are 2 imperfections. The passenger side front lens has a few superficial cracks which have no impact on the operation of the lights. The second imperfection is some paint scaling on the plastic trim piece by the driver's side windshield. The original alloy wheels are in good shape. All glass is original and in good shape, free of any delamination.
The car starts on the first turn of the key, idles smoothly and drives perfectly. I would not hestitate to drive this car anywhere. Service records demonstrate proper service at regular intervals. New battery in December, 2009. New cruise control module and valve cover gaskets less than 10,000 miles ago (no leaks). New suspension bearings, bushing and ball joints at 100,000 miles. Just had an oil change, new rotor and cap and wiper blades. This car is ready to go.
I have more pictures if anyone wants them. Just send me your email address.
Car is located in MA, about 30 miles north of Boston and price is $5000.
