I've decided to sell my 300D and listed it on CL... instead of just linking to the ad, I'll repost the whole thing:
1982 Mercedes Benz 300D turbo diesel. Professionally converted to 4 speed manual transmission using only original Mercedes Benz parts. 154,000 miles. This was a one owner car until summer 2008, when I bought the car. It has always been garaged, and the excellent condition of the interior reflects this. This is a normal US spec car, but has the unusual option of rear head rests. I'm a engineer working for Mercedes Benz and this has been my daily driver for the past three years.
Runs and drives excellent. The steering and suspension are tight and the engine runs very well. Working climate control and cold air conditioning. Tires have about 10,000 miles and are in excellent condition. Recent work includes rebuilt Becker radio, new starter, new battery, new fuel tank sender, rebuilt injectors, new AC compressor, rebuilt climate control panel, idler arm bushing, and upper control arms. Transmission conversion has about 12,000 miles on it and was installed with a new clutch, hydraulics, and mount. Many service records dating back to new. This car isn't rust free, but it is quite clean over all in the important areas, including the rocker panels and jack points.
Very fun to drive, and an excellent commuter car. It generally returns 25-28 miles per gallon, depending on driving style. This car is ready for someone else to drive and enjoy... I need to feed my hobby and make room for more Mercedes!
<Fairly priced at $4600. Located in Teaneck, NJ, just a few mintues from the George Washington Bridge.
